How VegPlan calculates nutrition

Values on selected recipe pages are reproducible per-serving recipe estimates, not laboratory analyses or medical advice.

Data source and licence

Data source: Max Rubner-Institut (2025): Bundeslebensmittelschlüssel (BLS), Version 4.0 – Deutsche Nährstoffdatenbank. Karlsruhe. DOI: 10.25826/Data20251217-134202-0. The dataset is licensed under CC BY 4.0.

VegPlan maps recipe ingredients to reviewed BLS foods and adapts the source data through quantity- and serving-based calculations.

Calculation

  1. Each included ingredient is mapped to a documented BLS source or a separately reviewed product value.
  2. Nutrients per 100 g or 100 ml are multiplied by the recipe quantity. Raw and drained weights follow the recipe specification.
  3. Ingredient values are summed and divided by the stated number of servings. Displayed values are rounded only after that step.

Limits of the estimate

Brands, natural variation, substitutions, actual quantities, and cooking losses or water absorption can change the result. For allergies, always rely on the ingredient list and warnings on the specific package.

VegPlan publishes nutrition only when reviewed core values are complete. Missing values are not invented for search engines or filled from uncontrolled sources.
